SENSATIONAL SPRING WEDDING TRENDS

It was poet Alfred Tennyson who wrote: “In the spring, a young man’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love”. Perhaps he knew a woman’s fancy is more likely to be preoccupied with planning her outfit for her spring nuptials!
Let’s look at what’s trending in the world of sensational spring weddings.

Let’s look at what’s trending in the world of sensational spring weddings.

Fortunately, there have been a slew of spring wedding trends seen in in past seasons as well as by those on the cutting edge of fashion to give us a little preview. The weddings of London it-girl Poppy Delevingne, her French counterpart Virginie Courtin-Clarins and uber-couple Kim and Kanye were not only stylish and fun but also right on trend. Based on their trousseaus, the most popular wedding dresses for a spring wedding are ultra feminine, fun and studded with floral embellishments.

Voluptuous Wedding Veils

These stylish weddings also heralded a new look for veils. Kim, Poppy and Virginie all opted for full-length, sheer veils to pair with their couture gowns for a look that was full of drama and romance.  Virginie took the feminine look a step further by choosing an elegant, lace-edged veil.

Pretty Petite

Those looking for something a little less elaborate will be heartened by the re-emergence of short or tea length wedding dresses seen recently at bridal weeks around the world. Perhaps inspired by recent celebrity brides Keira Knightley and model Bette Franke, the latest wedding designs from fashion houses Marchesa and Oscar de la Renta skim the knee or calf for a flattering and modern look.

Bohemian Beauty

This one’s not so much about the traditions of classic weddings with all the trimmings but dressing in a way that let’s your personality shine! A trend that we have seen emerging gradually over the years is the more simple understated dress with flowing lines, best personified by edgy New York bridal label Stone Fox Bride. These gowns are for the bride who cannot bear to spend thousands of dollars on a dress she’ll wear only once, but still wants to look stylish in something romantic and flowing, ideally with bare feet and an arm full of wild flowers.

Floral Headpieces

If a full traditional veil is not your style, a perennial spring bridal favourite is a crown of fresh blooms woven into your tresses and those of your bridal party. The florist taking care of the rest of your wedding flowers will offer seasonal suggestions, but good options include roses, daisies and the eternally romantic stephanotis.

Fine And Dainty

Though a wedding outfit isn't complete without a few delicate accessories to adorn it. Fine jewellery is a big trend that we have seen continuing into the new season. Look for delicate pieces that feature diamonds or pearls for an dainty and feminine look.  Find the perfect wedding day accessories

Always bear in mind that a spring wedding should be fun, full of colour and, most importantly, the most memorable day of your life.

NEW YEAR, NEW YOU

JEWELLERY TRENDS TO TRY IN 2015

The New Year is a perfect time to revamp your look and one of the easiest ways to do it is with your jewellery. Why not try some of these new jewellery trends set to take off in 2015?

Family jewels

This year we’ll see a touch of elegance return to everyday jewellery. In particular, estate-inspired jewels which possess the feeling of having been passed down through the family. Consider classic pieces like diamond and pearl studs or drop earrings, and pendant necklaces set with dark hued stones such as sapphires, opals, emeralds and rubies.

Mismatched metals

There’s something a little rock ‘n’ roll and rebellious about the mismatched metals trend. Defying the convention of wearing only jewellery that matches, this trend encourages wearing different metals all at once. So, if you’re up for it, have a go at mixing and matching all your silver, gold, and rose, white and yellow gold pieces together.

Statement works

Last year the statement necklace ruled the sartorial scene, but in 2015, it’s all about statement earrings. So go big, bold, colourful and brilliant – just make sure whatever earrings adorn your lobes are conversation starters. Think big hoops, striking diamonds, brilliant stones and glamorous drop earrings.

Stacked

If you love wearing rings, then you’ll be among those who embrace the ring stacking trend –multiple and different style rings layered and worn all at once. There really are no rules with this trend – except to consider proportion, comfort and personal style. Try stacking a trio of delicate rings onto one finger, adding a few thin bands with chunkier rings or layering rings on both hands. Anything goes really!

Penchant for pendants

The pendant necklace is shaping up to be the new jewellery classic of 2015. Brassy shades of gold are the favoured look, but whatever metal you choose, this trend steers away from the petite towards pieces that have longer chains and dominant shaped pendants, such as circles, lockets, hearts and crucifixes.

In the thick of it

Bangles and cuffs are another jewellery staple to consider this year. Choose chunky, thick styles. If you’re accessorising with them, keep it simple with one or if you’re after a bolder look, wear them on both arms or pair a few together.

Whatever trends you do try, make 2015 a year of having fun and experimenting with new looks. You can keep up to date with the newest jewellery arrivals by following us on Facebook or Instagram.
